EMMANUEL

EMMANUEL – THE LORD IS WITH US ALWAYS

From Sam-Best Ewruje, an able minister of the New Testament, not of man nor by man, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but by the will of God through the Grace and Mercy of Christ given unto me. Abundance of Grace and Gift of righteousness by Grace be unto you.

The Lord is with us even when we pass through bitter or sweet waters and in whatever situation. He is working out the best plan. Murmuring and

complaining can distract us from God’s perfect will. Indeed most of our prayer requests may be murmuring like Israel in the wilderness. Mercifully, each time they murmured God does something to show them that He is still with them but He wants us to trust and rest in Him knowing that He is there and at work to bring pass His perfect will or bring us into His perfect pleasing will or His heavenly calling. His name is Emmanuel. Out over 2 million people who left Egypt only two out of the whole brigade reached the Promised Land despite all the miracles the Lord did. Miracles bring momentary relief but do not impart eternal destiny. We sometimes pray away the things that are to build character in us in those frenzies we called warfare. However if we tarry eventually all things will work for our good and we would have been discipled through those trials. So it is good for us to always seek God rather than clamour always for our selfish goals. God came to deliver us from selfishness such that we should be conscious that he is with us always. Just as the Israelite clamoured for the things of Egypt like onions and cucumber, we sometimes clamour for the things of the system including status and all. We join the rat race that the Lord came to deliver us from. As a born again child of God, love, “otherism” (love for others) and indeed the world should be our focus. The church is the people and not the building. We are equipped as we come together to be poured out to affect the world around us by preaching, evangelism, life style and acts of good to the community. As we continue to garrison ourselves between 4 walls, we are drawn more and more to ourselves and neglect the very community that God wants us to affect. That is why He is with us. When Jesus was anointed, He went about doing good and healing. The early disciples did the same, they preached everywhere despite facing stiff opposition from people, rulers, kings etc. They were focussed and conscious of Emmanuel who is with them to reconcile the world to Himself not counting their fault or sin against them.

Exodus 17

1And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.

2Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?

3And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

4And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

5And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.

6Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

7And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?

IT IS THE LORD’S MERCY

IT IS OF THE LORD

From Sam-Best Ewruje, an able minister of the New Testament, not of man nor by man, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but by the will of God through the Grace and Mercy of Christ given unto me. Abundance of Grace and Gift of righteousness by Grace be unto you.

I believe the Lord has to bring us to a point where it will be known that if any good thing has to happen it has to be the Lord. Not our efforts or wit, or wisdom, or cleverness, or strength or power or might or any such things that we can lay hands to or point to as the reason for our victory or success but only by His mercy and compassion. It is not even because we desired it that we succeeded. He chose us, we did not choose Him and out of His mercies He works all things together. It is not even about our standing with the Lord but rather His standing with us which is mainly in power of mercy. The Mercy of God is not to be equated to the mindset of worldly human fleshly beggarly

MINISTER

mercy as in when a king or ruler of the earth pardons someone from a death penalty. The man on the cross was not pardoned from death penalty but He was saved. Rather God’s Mercy according to Psalm 136 is a spiritual force, the power of God in operation by Christ Jesus, the force that created the earth and set everything in place including the Sun, moon and stars. It is the power that brought salvation and brings new life for everyday.  Even the Israelites; who were originally adopted, and had the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises without faith in Christ will be outside the original promise (not promises) of God. What this mean is that no amount of works can meet God’s criteria. Sometimes we think or some put two and two together and say there is discrepancy in the word of God or that He said do this in one place and say do something else in another. This is a deliberate move of the Lord to ensure that not only is the scripture not of any private interpretation but that all men may appreciate that salvation and things that accompany salvation are by the grace and mercy of God in Christ Jesus so no man can boast of any other thing except the mercy and compassion shown on the cross of Calvary through the blood of Jesus. The Word of Lord says that He concluded all under sin and unbelief so that it can be only by His Mercy. This is to enable us to enter His rest whatever the situation when we trust the Lord. So as it is written by grace through faith and that not of ourselves, not of works lest we should boast. For instance, if you believe the Lord asked you to do something and you meet resistance, then pray and go again. Please kindly accept the free grace and mercy that is in Christ and be born again today. It is of the Lord’s mercy that we are not consumed.

Romans 9

4Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

15For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

16So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

17For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

18Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

19Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

20Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

Romans 11:32:

32For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

Galatians 3:22:

22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

GLORY TO GLORY TO GOD

FROM GLORY TO GLORY

ABLE MINISTER OF THE NEW TESTAMENT

From Sam-Best Ewruje, an able minister of the New Testament, not of man nor by man, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but by the will of God through the Grace and Mercy of Christ given unto me. Abundance of Grace and Gift of righteousness by Grace be unto you.

The Lord has seen me through many trials and troubles in my life but there are key foundations that He gave me during those periods. One is that He loved me and the other is that He has good plans for me no matter what and they are His plans not mine which by His own power grace and mercy He will bring to pass against all odds.  Also that whatever I have in the kingdom is free, so that for me sowing seed of material things and money to get something that God has given me freely does not sound gracious to me and indeed not according to truth of New Testament ministry. Not that I do not like giving, indeed I am super generous when I am in money and with stuff. However I give because the Lord has given me. There is a seed in every fruit the Lord gives. What I say here is not to put down any because the Church is of Christ and it is growing from glory to glory. At any level of glory, the Church is perfect.  We are all new creatures in Christ Jesus and the Lord is doing new things daily. That is what He said, that we should forget the former things including the bad, the good, the ugly, the victory and success of the old and look forward to new things. This is to help us not to hold to tradition, or experience or knowledge or wisdom or understanding but to look forward expectantly to the new things the Lord is doing daily so that the Church can move forward in our generation. The heart of the Lord and of Christ is that the next generation do better and greater than the former. The Lord says the glory of the latter house is greater but we sometimes like to glory in the former house. That is just human nature to think that their days were better but we need to walk in the Spirit because God is on the scene all the time. Such “our days” mentality is what sometimes makes look down on the youths of today but God says that the Church is their keeper in our generation. Let reach out to them and indeed all in our current glory. Oh what a blessing. GOD SAYS THERE IS GLORY IN THE HOUSE EVEN AS IT IS NOW!!! That should make you shout for joy. It may not look like the current house has greater glory from the human eye but it is so because the Lord has said so and as we believe and hold on to it, we will see the manifestation of the greater glory. Even Jesus our lord said we will do the things He did and even greater works. Wow! The average human being would not want those coming up to do better than them because they would like to be the icon in that field or that area or that office, sometimes out of ego, to say I did better or I was more gifted. However, the heart of the Father in all this is that His Church, his children go from glory to glory. The Lord is blameless because He has done all things well. In every generation, the Lord will reveal some stuff to His ministers by His Spirit so the Church can move to another level of glory. Due to the fact that we are not conscious of this and because we tend to want people to prove themselves, or get in the flow, or be in our box or be in agreement etc when the Lord makes new moves, people are sceptical. However, the Lord Himself will ensure that any move He makes will come through and that may mean shaking, separation, breakages etc. Sometimes a congregation may be shaken and it is not always Satan but the Lord is trying to do a new thing. Even if it is Satan, the Lord will work it out to His own glory at the end. I am not sure why we have this erroneous belief that unity is like uniformity of soldiers. Unity is of the Spirit not fleshly or emotional or social unity. Abraham had to separate from Lot but Abraham still knew that Lot is a brother and went to fight for Lot even when Lot chose what he thought was the best place in his own eyes after Abraham made him rich.

The main point here is that we are all being transformed from glory to glory as by the Spirit, not by psyching ourselves, or doing paddy, paddy or by social inclusion or exclusion. God’s way is by the Spirit and by faith. Just because people agree or seems to be in harmony does not mean it is of the Lord eg the tower of Babel where they were of one mind. In the same light just because people were scattered does not mean God is not in it eg the disciple were scattered when the Lord Jesus was crucified and they were persecuted and scattered everywhere after Christ was taken up but they went everywhere preaching Christ. A man was preaching Christ not even following Jesus in His days and the flesh and his disciples went into religious mode trying to discredit the man saying “Master, he is not following us”, but Jesus said, as long as He is preaching my name he is for us. We cannot use any measures including sociology or psychology to box the Lord. He made it complex like that so He alone can get the glory in His Church. Saints do not share in His glory, we are partakers of His glory. When we come to Christ, this complex matter becomes the simplest thing ever know to man. The Scripture is not for debate or analysis, it is for declaration. He who believes is saved. He who believes not is damned. The Church is in one level of glory now but the Bible says God looked at what He has made and said it was good. So with the Church and with the Lord, it is all God and it is all good no matter what. Do not complicate the simplicity of the gospel, which is that we at par at the cross and only His grace keeps His Church not any human endeavours. The unity is in the glory that as we behold the word and hang out with Jesus daily in our own little ways we are being transformed into THE SAME IMAGE – CHRIST or the image of God. This gives us rest. Why don’t you take advantage of such rest by receiving Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour and be born again if you have not yet done..

2 Corinthians 3:18:

18But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

WHY IS IT DIFFICULT TO FORGIVE?

FORGIVENESS

GROW IN GRACE

From Sam-Best Ewruje, an able minister of the New Testament, not of man nor by man, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but by the will of God through the Grace and Mercy of Christ given unto me. Abundance of Grace and Gift of righteousness by Grace be unto you in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Forgiveness is one of the most pivotal messages of salvation. Also the Lord wants us to forgive. Why is forgiveness so difficult sometimes? The confusion and hardship brought into the issue of forgiveness is to do with our mindset about forgiveness. The subject has been mixed up with our daily human mindset, emotions, feelings and the feel good factor being preached daily as the evidence of our salvation. For instance people may say “I can never forgive what they did to me”. Others may say, “every time I look at so and so, it  reminds me of what he or she did, I can never forgive him or her. Well by the grace of God you will be free from all that junk as you read. The first thing to note is that forgiveness is not about you or the one that offended you. It is about the Lord. Forgiveness belongs to God. It has nothing to do with our feelings, or how the person who did wrong to you looked at you or how his face is or his posture or “has treated you like dirt”. Everyone will give account before God but your part is to behave like your Father in heaven. When we do not forgive we rebel against God

Daniel 9:9:

9To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;

The Lord by His mercy in Christ Jesus has passed this wonderful quality to us his children just like a genetic transmission with that inherent ability and privilege to do and partake with our Father in heaven in the glory that is in forgiveness. The Spirit of the Lord is behind this and He brings the power to forgive to us. When our Father does something, He speaks it out by faith not by what He feels or even thinks. Jesus does the same. He speaks. We have been given the same ability, the power of life and blessing in our tongue. Are you saying all these hurts and agony and pain that this person inflicted on me is not great enough for me not to forgive? That is exactly what I am saying that if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, Jesus said, you shall say. Forgiveness starts with you looking to the Lord, how He forgave you all the big sins and small sins and saved you. Then with the same grace and mercy, you can then forgive.

The other thing about the difficulty in forgiveness is that when people forgive, they are looking for a response from the person they forgave, looking for a smile, or let us hug or shake hands etc. Those are just human emotions at work. Just because you forgive does not mean everything will be jolly, jolly immediately, and expect smiles on all sides etc. Depending on the severity of the wrong the person did to you, the hurt, pain and agony or thoughts of it will come to you from time to time but when it comes, remind yourself that you have forgiven and ask the Lord to heal you of any hurt, pain or bitterness that may have been in your heart from the wrong that was done to you.

So now let us throw away all our emotional junk and look at Jesus who is the epitome of forgiveness. Jesus said forgive them for they do not know what they are doing. When He forgave He did it by saying it. Then He was in agony, He was still at the cross, being mocked, being derided. He did not wait until He rose from the dead when all His pains were gone. Not only that, the people he was forgiving were still mocking Him. He forgave us while we were still sinning against Him and the Father. He did not consider His suffering according to Hebrews 12:1-2 or what we were doing to Him but by the grace of the Father forgave us by declaring it with His mouth. You may say that was Jesus. Well Steven did the same in the book of Acts when he was being stoned by Saul and his team (later became Paul). He saw the glory of God, he could have said Lord strike them down but he said do not hold this against them. There it is. When anyone does things to you as a child of God, that person does not know that they are practically doing it to God. So when you declare I forgive you, it is literally saying that God should not hold it against them. Will it still hurt? Yes, ask Steven whether it was hurting when Saul and his men were stoning him. Paul experienced the same thing when a man with so much anointing had no one with him when he went to court. I have always said that if Paul was in our generation he would have been thrown out of the church as cursed, a man with such power of God yet facing trouble by the minute.

Luke 23:34:

34Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Acts 7:60:

60And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep

2 Timothy 4:16:

16At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

Forgiveness and the process of healing past hurts and pain and reconciliation and trust may take time depending on the severity of the wrong done. However, the more you grow in the act of forgiveness by looking to the Lord and not the perpetrator, the faster it takes to come out of the pain and the hurt and indeed total healing.

The devil always accuse the brethren that because the thought came to you or that because you remembered the hurt or that you felt bad when you thought about or saw the one that wronged you, it means you have not forgiven. This is where the Lord is good. Forgiveness is by faith. Faith speaks. When you spoke, you have forgiven. The words you spoke will not return void. If in doubt say it again. I have forgiven so devil be gone in Jesus Name. As you keep saying that the devil will leave you. While at it ask the Lord to heal you of any hurt or pain. When you say I forgive whether to their face or in your closet, you are actually praying for those that hurt or despitefully use you. That is the excellent quality of a child of God

Now go and be free in the Grace and Mercy of God in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and forgive profusely by faith. The Spirit of faith speaks, the law always looks for what you should do or not do to make things right. Forgiveness is a spiritual force by faith not by feelings or 5 senses. It is from the heart for it is with the heart man believes but with the mouth confession is made. As a child of God you believe in forgiveness already in your heart, so no need to struggle about it but just release it,  say it!!! I forgive or Lord forgive them for they do not know that what they think they are doing to me, they are actually doing it to you for I am the apple of God’s eye.

UNITY IS IN THE GLORY

GRACE FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH

GROW IN GRACE

That is just human nature to think that their days were better but we need to walk in the Spirit because God is on the scene. While there is chaos everywhere organisational and economic, there is no better time to look away and look up as the Lord said because our salvation is nearer. Saints need to be looking at what the Lord is doing and not meddle in civilian affairs all day but rather praying that the Lord’s will in heaven transfers to earth thus manifesting the kingdom. It may not look like the current house has greater glory but it is so because the Lord has said so and as we believe and hold on to it, we will see the manifestation of the greater glory. Even Jesus our lord said we will do the things He did and even greater works. Wow! I am not sure why we have this erroneous belief that unity in the kingdom of God is equivalent to uniformity of soldiers. Unity is of the Spirit not fleshly unity. It is not by feelings or emotion but by faith. Abraham had to separate from Lot but Abraham still knew that Lot is a brother and went to fight for Lot even when Lot chose what he thought was the best place in his own eyes after Abraham made him rich.

The main point here is that we are all being transformed from glory to glory as by the Spirit, not by psyching ourselves, or doing paddy, paddy or by social inclusion or exclusion or even by greater praying power. Rather, the greater praying, giving, holiness, righteousness and serving power is part of the greater glory on us.  God’s way is by the Spirit. Just because people agree or seems to be in harmony does not mean it is of the Lord eg the tower of Babel where they were of one mind. When people are of one mind, they can achieve much but the Lord may not be in it. In the same light just because people were scattered does not mean God is not in it eg the disciple were scattered when the Lord Jesus was crucified and they were persecuted and scattered everywhere after Christ was taken up but they went everywhere preaching Christ. Also John the Baptist was not only one voice but in the wilderness, yet people were flocking to him to hear the gospel because the Lord was with him.  We cannot use any measure of the world including sociology or psychology to box the Lord. He made it complex like that so He alone can get the glory in His Church. Saints do not share in His glory, we are partakers of His glory. There it is UNITY. When the saints believe by faith that the Lord is at work in each of us to achieve the same goal, the image of Christ, not how much stuff or conquest or even miracles then the church will be one and more accepting of each other no matter their level of faith or glory at any point in time. This gives us rest. God said when He establishes His covenant, no man will tell his neighbour “know the Lord”. He said we will all know Him. – Praise God. It can be so difficult to think that the Lord is working in your neighbour as He is working in you but we can do it by faith in Christ. The Lord says He is at work in us all individually and corporately. It does not look like that in the flesh or to the human mind, but we walk by faith. Believe!!!  Why not avail yourselves of the free gift of salvation in Christ if you are not yet born again.

CALLING ALL MARYS AND MARTHAS

MARY AND MARTHA

GROW IN GRACE

From Sam-Best Ewruje, an able minister of the New Testament, not of man nor by man, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but by the will of God through the Grace and Mercy of Christ given unto me. Abundance of Grace and Gift of righteousness by Grace be unto you in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There have been stories about Mary and Martha. One thing I now know about my Lord Jesus is that whenever someone brings a case about another, Jesus will focus on counselling that person who brought the matter rather than focus on the person or disciple that the grudge was against. He did the same to Peter when he asked Jesus about John the beloved, Jesus told Peter “follow me” and let me do as I please with John. Today, when someone brings a matter, that person automatically wants you to take their side and if it is not so, they get mad and even break ties with you. They will reject any counsel that points to them. Jesus did not condemn Martha for what she was doing but He rebuked her after she complained and murmured about her sister. The moral is that whenever you murmur about somebody else, search yourself. Also whatever you are doing, do it with all your heart as unto the Lord not expecting a pat on the back. We need people who serve because such are hard to find. The apostles appointed people full of the Spirit to serve tables so that they can devote to the word. For ministers to devote to the word at the feet of Jesus, they need men and women full of the Holy Ghost to serve tables joyfully. That balance has to be restored to the Church. If it is in your heart to serve, do it well not with eyeservice. Note what Martha said, she was addressing Jesus “dost thou not care” or simply put see I am serving hard, the others are not serving like me. That is simply eyeservice. Of course Jesus cares. Again she was reporting Mary to the Lord, she could have just shouted, Mary please come and help and leave the choice to Mary. Jesus correctly redirected Martha’s focus that it is Mary’s choice and what you are doing is your choice. If you are serving and making comparison especially in your area of calling then it is time to rest and get at the feet of Jesus for the word. Whatever we do, should be with joy as to the Lord. Whether we are studying the word or serving, do it with joy as unto the Lord. Martha may have started the chores with praise and later became bitter because Mary was not helping or doing what she (Martha) is doing. That happens in Church sometimes. People seems to want everyone doing the same thing at the same time in the same way eg everyone stand up to sing or stand to pray etc. Though they sound good those are purely externals. Hannah, Samuel’s mum wasn’t part of the flow at all in the worship and the praying, she was just muttering under her breath for her barrenness, but the priest noticed her that she was agonising in the spirit. She may have been thrown out in our fervent church of today because she was not flowing or not in unity or not in agreement. She would have been a distraction to the minister. Picture it this way that when the minister must have given several instructions to the congregation eg stand up, sing, shout etc and this poor lady is just in a sober mode muttering under her breath all through the service, but this priest called her specially and wanted to know her thoughts. Let us be sensitive to both Martha and Mary of our days. Let us also discard our mentality of unity and agreement as if it means everyone doing the same thing at the same time like in the earthly army. We need Marthas who will serve joyfully without being judgemental on those not serving and also need Marys who will study the word fervently to minister to others without being judgemental may be to refresh the souls of the Marthas. Jesus is a balance to the church whether at times of serving and at times of the word. Please take advantage of the free gift of salvation and be set free in your soul and your spirit.

Luke 10

38Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

39And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

40But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

41And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
