EMMANUEL – THE LORD IS WITH US ALWAYS
From Sam-Best Ewruje, an able minister of the New Testament, not of man nor by man, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but by the will of God through the Grace and Mercy of Christ given unto me. Abundance of Grace and Gift of righteousness by Grace be unto you.
The Lord is with us even when we pass through bitter or sweet waters and in whatever situation. He is working out the best plan. Murmuring and
complaining can distract us from God’s perfect will. Indeed most of our prayer requests may be murmuring like Israel in the wilderness. Mercifully, each time they murmured God does something to show them that He is still with them but He wants us to trust and rest in Him knowing that He is there and at work to bring pass His perfect will or bring us into His perfect pleasing will or His heavenly calling. His name is Emmanuel. Out over 2 million people who left Egypt only two out of the whole brigade reached the Promised Land despite all the miracles the Lord did. Miracles bring momentary relief but do not impart eternal destiny. We sometimes pray away the things that are to build character in us in those frenzies we called warfare. However if we tarry eventually all things will work for our good and we would have been discipled through those trials. So it is good for us to always seek God rather than clamour always for our selfish goals. God came to deliver us from selfishness such that we should be conscious that he is with us always. Just as the Israelite clamoured for the things of Egypt like onions and cucumber, we sometimes clamour for the things of the system including status and all. We join the rat race that the Lord came to deliver us from. As a born again child of God, love, “otherism” (love for others) and indeed the world should be our focus. The church is the people and not the building. We are equipped as we come together to be poured out to affect the world around us by preaching, evangelism, life style and acts of good to the community. As we continue to garrison ourselves between 4 walls, we are drawn more and more to ourselves and neglect the very community that God wants us to affect. That is why He is with us. When Jesus was anointed, He went about doing good and healing. The early disciples did the same, they preached everywhere despite facing stiff opposition from people, rulers, kings etc. They were focussed and conscious of Emmanuel who is with them to reconcile the world to Himself not counting their fault or sin against them.
Exodus 17
1And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
2Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?
3And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
4And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.
5And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
6Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?
