PRIORITY – AGENDA FOR EVANGELISM

WE ARE FRUITFUL WHEREVER

GROW IN GRACE

From Sam-Best Ewruje, an able minister of the New Testament, not of man nor by man, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but by the will of God through the Grace and Mercy of Christ given unto me. Abundance of Grace and Gift of righteousness by Grace be unto you in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please be patient to read. It will set you free for life!

WE ARE FRUITFUL WHEREVER – YOU DON’T NEED ANY PROPHETIC TO BE AN EVANGELIST

One of my goal is to motivate every child of God to evangelise in every way you can. We are to be fruitful wherever we are. This fruitfulness is an innate ability or potential that the Lord has given us. He blessed us with it in Genesis 1:28. This is why we should continue to evangelise no matter where we find ourselves even in the wilderness. The Israelites were still fruitful and multiplying even in the wilderness. John was in the wilderness preaching. That we should be blessed and fruitful is a default setting by the Lord Himself. This is GOD meaning Grace On Display.

Nehemiah 9

21Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.

23Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land, concerning which thou hadst promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.

24So the children went in and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would.

You will realise that the four gospels do no repeat every message but preaching the gospel wherever you are is one that is echoed even in all four. I am not sure why people do not preach the gospel. However from my own personal experience, it is circumstances and situation or the feeling that they are not adequate and outright fear. Above all a major subtle reason is that people want to preach themselves in what they call testimony rather than preach Christ and the Grace of God. They want to preach how they fasted and prayed and got a miracle or achieved something. So if they do not have “a miracle” or some fantastic experience, they can’t preach the gospel. Trust God. Perfect love of God casts out fear, so no matter what you have done, no matter where you find yourself either by your own doing, or spiritual attacks or even by orchestration of God Himself, know that the Lord is still with you and you should do the work of an evangelist. It is by evangelism that we can become fruitful and multiply. A good example is the Jews. They have faced many persecutions, scattered everywhere, but wherever they go, they are fruitful, they multiply whether poor or rich, they work or do business and become relevant in the society and economy albeit through many struggles. In the same way as a child of God, preach, evangelise, do things that will touch the community around you. Then you will be fruitful in the land no matter what.

John was in the wilderness a hard place but was still preaching crying in the desert where no man lived. I am not sure how long he did that but eventually people where trooping to him form villages, towns and cities so much so that all the 4 gospel carried his news. What hard place can you be than a wilderness, with no life, possibly wild beasts and scorpions and no food etc. One thing was that he had the Spirit of the Lord God and that made all the difference. He was in the wilderness preaching THE LORD not himself in the wilderness complaining and moaning of all his hardship in the wilderness and hence looking for a miracle. God does miracles for a purpose and the ultimate one is salvation of the soul

Matthew 3:3:

3For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Mark 1:3:

3The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Luke 3:4:

4As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

John 1:23:

23He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

Note that all through he said prepare the way of the Lord. He was not moaning “Lord make way for me” and singing our emotional songs “God will make a way”. He is not a way maker, He is THE WAY. So go out there and do the work of an evangelist. I am not sure why people think that they need a prophetic or laying of hands or some other mysterious thing to preach the gospel. The first thing Jesus told the women on the day of resurrection is GO TELL! Do not be afraid, discouraged or dismayed and even if you are still go and evangelise. The greatest joy I have is preaching the gospel, seeing somebody being changed by the gospel, seeing its good effect on the community etc. God will not leave or forsake you. So go tell of Christ and His Grace. God is grace on display and that is why you went through all that hard stuff and He is still keeping you so you can be fruitful for His Kingdom. That is His default plan for you, to be fruitful. So do not let situation dictate to you and you moan everyday throwing pity party. God bless you real good.

Mark 16:15:

15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Note that before Jesus gave them this command, He had rebuked some including Thomas for their unbelief and hardened heart yet He gave them the commission. Praise the Lord of all Grace!! It is all about Jesus from Genesis to Revelation.

Halleluya. How can you neglect so great a salvation! If you are not saved, why don’t you receive what Jesus says.

MYTH BUSTERS 4

THE GOOD SAMARITAN MYTH

GROW IN GRACE

From Sam-Best Ewruje, an able minister of the New Testament, not of man nor by man, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but by the will of God through the Grace and Mercy of Christ given unto me. Abundance of Grace and Gift of righteousness by Grace be unto you in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please be patient to read. It will set you free for life!

Over time we have preached the Good Samaritan story as though it was a principle that Jesus was teaching us to live by. First know that the Scripture is not of any private interpretation.  So it is good to put Scripture in context so we can run with it.

2 Peter 1:20:

20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

There are certain people in the gospels that Jesus dealt with in specific ways. These are the Scribes, Lawyers, Pharisees, Sadducees, Sanhedrin etc. These were not just ordinary people in the culture where Jesus grew up. These are people who know the law of God back to front. They interpret the law to the letter to allow the modern man to live by them. They are the ones that make judgement in matters of the law eg stoning those caught in the act. However their confusion and conflict with Jesus often arises when He answers questions posed by these people or discusses with them in a manner that does not conform with their interpretation of the law or Scripture because Jesus only says what the Father says.

John 8

26I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.

27They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.

When you look through the gospel, you will find that whenever these groups of people asked Jesus questions, it is not that they genuinely want to know but rather question or discuss with Jesus to tempt, disprove, ensnare, to mock him and find fault or reason to eliminate Him. They were the wise and prudent of their time. They were the ones who feel they do things God’s way and deserve the blessings. They feel they know to do things that please God which they give as reasons to inherit God’s blessings. So when Jesus answers such people, He let them know that they cannot interpret His thoughts or word or know His ways by human mindset and He answers or discuss with them to let them know that His thoughts and ways are higher. He speaks to them in a way that their human minds can never comprehend. What the Lord gives His saints is by Revelation through the Holy Spirit to those who genuinely seek the Lord, desire to know Him rather than for debate or mockery. The Lord reveals heavenly secrets that the human mind cannot gainsay, explain or indeed understand.

Matthew 13

10And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

13Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

So let us now, with this introduction, examine the parable of the Good Samaritan by reading Luke 10.

Luke 10

25And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Verse 25 is what put this story in context. This lawyer or scribe came to tempt Eternal Life Himself, Jesus in public. He stood up to scorn or mock or deride Jesus. Jesus has to answer Him in a way that it can never make sense to Him. Note what Jesus said to Him. He was saying you already know the law. Go and do what is in it. Look at vs 29. He really wanted to put Jesus down and to ridicule Him. He was willing to justify Himself. You see, no man can be justified in the sight of God. The only way to be justified before God is to receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

Psalm 143:2:

2And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

So Jesus now made it more difficult for him. The priest and the Levite know the Scripture, the Samaritans on the other hand are the ones not supposed to have anything to do with God because they were not Covenant people just like us gentiles of today. Jesus is telling the lawyer that the Samaritan was the least likely to respond but he was the only one who did. Now look at this scenario. The lawyer wanted to know what to do to be saved. The answer really is NOTHING! None of the 3 examples that Jesus gave were saved. No one can be saved by good works, not even the neighbourly Samaritan. The only way to be saved is to accept the sacrifice that God Himself has provided – JESUS. He is the Lamb of God slain to take away the sins of the world. This kind of salvation is free, not earned by works, or by tithing or with money. It is absolutely free. After you receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour, your good works begin to count before God as a reward. There are still scoffers today, questioning the free gift, mocking, jesting and treating this free gift with disdain. It is very real in life that when things are free, people misuse or abuse or mistreat those free things.

Halleluya. How can you neglect so great a salvation! If you are not saved, why don’t you receive what Jesus says.

MYTH BUSTERS 5

THE GOOD SAMARITAN MYTH – MORE

GROW IN GRACE

From Sam-Best Ewruje, an able minister of the New Testament, not of man, nor by man, not of blood, nor the will of the flesh, nor the will of man, but by the will of God through the Grace and Mercy Christ given unto me. Abundance of Grace and Gift of righteousness which is by Grace be unto you in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please be patient to read. It will set you free.

We have been talking about the Good Samaritan theology or story. We introduced this topic by saying that there are certain people in the gospels that Jesus dealt with in specific ways. These are the Scribes, Lawyers, Pharisees, Sadducees, Sanhedrin etc. These were not just ordinary people in the culture where Jesus grew up. These are people who know the law of God back to front. They interpret the law (scripture) to the letter to allow the modern man to live by them. They are the ones that make judgement in matters of the law eg stoning those caught in the act. However their confusion and conflict with Jesus often arises when He answers questions posed by these people or discusses with them in a manner that does not conform with their interpretation of the law or Scripture because Jesus only says what the Father says. In the context of the Good Samaritan narrative, we can conclude that the lawyer asked Jesus question to mock or deride him in public rather than a need to know basis. God reveals clearly to those who genuinely want to know Him.

So far we can summarise that the answer Jesus gave to the Lawyer who questioned Him was in the context of attempt to mock and deride Jesus in public. We also saw that Jesus answered him in a way that the lawyer cannot comprehend with the fleshly mindset. Also we concluded that the lawyer wanted to look good in the sight of Jesus when he asked, “What must I do to have eternal life”. We also said that the simple answer to that question is NOTHING and we acknowledged that the only way to have eternal life is by accepting Jesus as Lord and saviour and resting in what He has done for us rather than what we do. We then concluded that none of the 3 examples Jesus gave – the Levite, the Priest and the Good Samaritan were saved despite the good work of the Samaritan. Good work cannot save you even if you feed all the poor people in the world. This is one of the major differencees between the Christian faith and others. A Christian has to rely solely (not mainly) on the Sacrifice of Jesus not our own achievement or what we can do.

You can see from the scripture that Jesus had to answer Him twice because the lawyer pressed on. He really wanted to mock Jesus and justify Himself. Jesus initially answered from the Scripture which the lawyer knew very well and quoted, but he continued to want to make a mockery of our Saviour by asking “Who is my neighbour”? I am sure you may have come across people like that who ask questions just to make mockery of your faith or disprove your faith or test how much you know rather than a genuine reason to know. It was at this point that Jesus took the lawyer from his comfort zone by telling him a long winding story which He knew the lawyer will wrestle with forever and yet not be saved even if he went and lived the rest of his life like the Good Samaritan. It is very important to stress this again – no one is saved by good works eg giving, praying, being nice etc. This is a lesson we must learn from the Good Samaritan story. We are only saved by the blood of Jesus through the eternal substitution sacrifice. Not of works lest any man should boast. Looking at it closely, it is Jesus that actually came to save us from the thief and robber, Satan and his cohorts.

Ephesians 2

8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

However, by His grace and mercy, He has revealed Himself to us by His Spirit. It is only Jesus that can reveal the Father and it is only the Father that can reveal Jesus to those who really seek Him to know Him and commit to Him as Lord and Saviour. He reveals things to His children and any one He pleases. He is the Sovereign Lord. In the same Luke 10 where the lawyer asked the question Jesus has just told His disciples PRIVATELY that they were privileged to see certain things that those who seem prudent like the Scribes, Lawyers, Pharisees, Sadducees, Sanhedrin etc were not privileged to see or experience.

Luke 10

21In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

22All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

23And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

24For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

25And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Note that it was immediately after this that the lawyer came to tempt Him. You do not need to do anything like the Samaritan to be saved and have eternal life. Only accept the Sacrificed Lamb of God. Jesus said categorically I AM the way, the truth and the Life. Jesus is eternal Life

John 14:6:

6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Halleluya!! How can you neglect so great a salvation! If you are not saved, why don’t you receive what Jesus says.
