GROW IN GRACE

As stated in part 1 people do not preach the Gospel today because they are either preaching themselves or their own Gospel. There was a time was preaching good and healing but He realised that there is no other Gospel but that of Christ. He said there is no good thing in me apart from Christ. Even Jesus Himself preached His heart out and healed all but when they called Him good master, he said that there is no one good except God. As far as the Gentiles are concerned, no other Gospel but that of Christ and the Grace of God in Christ Jesus can save them and keep them saved. The Jews or Israelites according to the Scripture are the actual people of God. They know the Scripture back to back. They know God. They understand the theology behind Messiah which they reverence very much. The only thing is that some of them do not believe that Messiah has come. Actually Paul, by the Holy Ghost declares that any Gospel that is not of Christ is witchcraft.

Romans 7:17-19

¹⁷ Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

¹⁸ For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

¹⁹ For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

Mark 10:16-18

¹⁷ And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

¹⁸ And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

1 Corinthians 1:22-24

²² For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

²³ But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

²⁴ But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

The summary of the matter is that we should preach Christ the Son of God. All have sinned and fallen short that is why He came to die. Whether those that live by law or the Gentiles that do not know the law have all been concluded under sin so we might ALL appreciate the great Mercy and the great Grace of God our Father in Christ Jesus.

 Romans 11:31-33

³¹ Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

³² For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

The Gospel of Christ the Son of God is not by interpretation but by revelation and that is only by God the Father through the Holy Spirit. This is not a hear-say kind of Gospel. It is by the Grace of God. We should not preach ourselves.

Galatians 1

¹¹ But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

¹² For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹³ For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

¹⁴ And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

¹⁵ But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,

¹⁶ To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

¹⁷ Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

Preaching ourselves is one of the major hindrances of the Gospel today. People want to preach their achievement, conquest and “blessings”. When we do that some Christians will look at themselves and say I only have a bicycle, how can I preach to somebody in a Mercedes? Let me tell you. Phillip was on ‘Legedes Benz’ when he preached to the Ethopian Eunuch riding a chariot which was like a modern Limosine. Some procrastinate. When I get this and that. When I marry or after I get a car or a house. Before you know it times has gone and you have not witnessed Christ to anyone for the last 10 years. Go preaching Christ everyday when the Lord opens the door of opportunity!! 

THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST IS THE POWER OF GOD FOR SALVATION TO EVERYONE No matter who you are!!

Romans 1:15-17

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

¹⁷ For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Halleluya!! How can you neglect so great a salvation! If you are not saved, why don’t you receive what Jesus says?

People are not confident to preach the gospel today because most times they are preaching their own gospel rather than the Gospel of Christ. They go and dig up the law therefore entangling even believers. They wrestle with the law because they do not look at it through eyes of Christ. As the Scripture says the law was to lead us to Christ. The very law that they themselves cannot keep, they want others to keep. Note that when it comes to the Gentiles, it is the doctrine of Christ that will save them not teaching people law and to keep law. Jesus summarised that love from God is the summary of all the law and the prophet. Jesus is that Love. The Gospel or doctrine of Christ and of the Grace of God is that ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD. It does not matter if you have never hurt a fly in your life or you have been so kind or pray 1,000 times a day. One man’s sin brought into us as a part and parcel the nature of sin and for that ALL HAVE SINNED!!  We are to preach the good news that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That Christ came and died for sins of us all and that He was buried and raised from the dead by the glory of the Father. He ascended into heaven and He is now sitting at the right hand side of God. He is coming again to take us home where we will be with Him forever. Don’t start to go into the law and expound it to anybody. It is this doctrine of or the Gospel of Christ that is the power of God unto Salvation to them that believe. Many will say, O I can’t keep the commandments. You are very right and that is why Jesus came.

1 Corinthians 15

¹ Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

² By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

³ For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

⁴ And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

2 John 1

⁷ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

⁸ Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

⁹ Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

¹⁰ If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

There is no ambiguity in the Scripture about the doctrine of Christ which leads to repentance, acceptance of Christ and ultimately Salvation. We have to repent from our own gospel and start preaching the doctrine or the Gospel of Christ immediately. The law, the prophet and indeed all the Scripture exposes the wretchedness of mankind striving to meet up to God’s standard individually and as a people. This is why Jesus, the Grace of God unto mankind came. Amazing grace how sweet thou sound. Thou saved a wretch like me. We can get carried away by some things Jesus said before He went to the cross. He came to fulfil the law to the letter. When we read that our righteousness must exceed that of the Pharisee we put 2 and 2 together and we think that Jesus is putting a demand on us to be super righteous. Not at all. He said He will fulfil all the law for us and we can now present Him as our righteousness not according to law but according to faith in His finished work.

2 Corinthians 5:20-21

²⁰ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

²¹ For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The Amazing Grace is that according to the New Testament, the Ark is like a chest (container) that contains the tablets of stone on which the Ten Commandments were written. So the tablet of stone is inside the ark. Then over it is the mercy seat. Then the Cherubim hover over it. My Lord and my God, Jesus I worship you. Jesus is seating on the Mercy Seat covering the stone of commandment. O Lord! Some of us are practically dragging Jesus out of the Mercy Seat and looking or observing the tablets of stone. They practically pull up Jesus, open the chest of drawer and literally bring out the law by themselves. God help us in Jesus Name.

Hebrews 9

³ And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;

⁴ Which had the golden censer, and the Ark of the Covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

⁵ And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

Jesus is sitting on the Mercy Seat over The Ark of Covenant, over the stone of the LAW! We can obtain Grace, Mercy, Favour and Help at the throne of Mercy without fear of condemnation under the law. Shout Halleluya. Don’t miss part 2.

ISAAC VS ISHMAEL

I know a very renowned Children Praise worshipper called Ishmael. I have attended his conference and I used to wonder why a Christian will want to bear the name Ishmael.  From where I come from in Africa, such person would have changed his name to Isaac because that name according to the Bible denotes where the true promised blessing came from.

Romans 9:6-8

⁶ Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

⁷ Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

⁸ That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

Biblically, it appears that Isaac lineages are the Jews and Ishmael lineages are the Gentiles. It is true that Israel is still very dear to the heart of God as dearly beloved but Jesus has reconciled the world by His blood. Jesus shed His blood for the whole world including every person, tribe, kindred and tongue. This is the amazing Grace of the Father through our Lord Jesus Christ. It can’t be clearer than that. In the New Testament, God loves the whole world

John 3:16-17

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

¹⁷ For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 18:13-15

¹⁴ Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.

Finally Paul by the Holy Spirit emphasises this in the New Testament that there is no longer division between Jews, Gentiles or Greek or even slaves in his time. He concludes that when you come to Christ, we are one. We are united by the blood and the Spirit. We are heirs and joint heirs with Christ. Praise the Lord for His amazing Grace that is beyond human understanding.

Galatians 3:27-29

²⁷ For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

²⁹ And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Colossians 3:10-14

¹⁰ And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

¹¹ Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Whoever you are, whatever your colour and wherever you come from, you can be saved.

IT IS A NEW LIFE

One of the major differences between the Moses and Joshua generation was that while the Moses generation were always looking back and complaining whenever they faced major difficulties, the Joshua generation looked forward to the Promise Land. So while the Moses generation wanted their old life back or better, the Joshua generation looks forward to a new life or way that they have never lived before. That life can only be known by walking closely with the Lord. Joshua told the men he led to “go after the ark”. He told them simply “follow the ark” so that “ye may know the way which ye may go”. Wow! It can’t be simpler than that.

Joshua 3:3-5

³ And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.

⁴ Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.

However when the people got to the Promised Land and the land was divided as inheritance, the people of Israel wanted to be like other nations. They wanted a king which was not God’s plan. God wanted to be their king. They also wanted some form of image to identify God like the images other nations worshipped. However God said do not make any image in the likeness of me. You are my likeness on the earth. Through my couple of years as a Christian I find that after we become born again we spend half of our lives trying to use God or Jesus to patch our old lives or try to make our old life better. We become freedom fighters. In other words we now use God to chase our golden fleece. However, God has totally prepared a new life for those who come to Him by Jesus Christ. This a kind of life that you have not lived before, a life in the Spirit full of Grace and Truth in Christ. This life unfolds day by day as you walk with the Lord. Paul says I look not at the things that are behind but the things which are before me. He further admonishes every child of God to have that mindset of a NEW LIFE!! God says all things are become new!! ALL THINGS! You can only live that life by following the Holy Spirit and renewing your mind in the Word of God daily. So from the little baby Newman, you will by the Word of God and the leading of the Spirit of God grow to be an adult Newman!

2 Corinthians 5:16-18

¹⁶ Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

¹⁷ Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

¹⁸ And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

Philippians 3:13-15

MESS TO MESSAGE – GO TELL OF CHRIST

There is something about the telling or preaching the gospel that astound all. It is not about us so that when the Lord commissions, He does not look at our weaknesses because He wants us to be witnesses that these feeble unlikely men can have something that can change the world. However, in our generation, we do not put this to use because we want to be strong, grow etc and eventually we out grow ourselves from the basics. One thing I notice is that whenever I preach the gospel and lives are touched, it satisfies me and I forget my own problems and begin to take on their fights and pray for them. Most times, we are more concerned with our own flaws and the devil has a thousand reasons especially fear or embarrassment why you are not fit to minister if you let him. Some will say you call yourself a pastor or this or that. That is exactly the point. I do not want anyone to emulate me after any other thing than the Grace, Mercy and Love of Christ so that whatever happens, people will know that I am an unlikely candidate for it so that they can be pointed to God and His Christ rather than anything that I am worth eg fame, money, education, good works, or any fleshly affiliations. Those things are good and I like them but I will rather be known after Christ. I am what I am, I am who I am by THE GRACE OF GOD WORKING WITHIN ME

2 Corinthians 5

¹⁶Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

¹⁷Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

It is the personal flaws of our lives (and they are many) that prevent people from telling about Christ. They think they are not fit or qualified and even many men including well meaning Christians will tell them so. I have good news for you. Remember the woman at the well. She was a serial divorcee, 5 husbands and living with a partner at the time Jesus met her! Please put on your judgmental hats but you will soon duff them for the extravagant Grace of God Almighty in Christ Jesus. I am sure the men in the town knew her. She may have been through some of them before marrying and divorcing 5 out of them and now settling for a live in partner. What a chaotic life. Not only that the only people she has associated with are people and men who used, abused, rejected and resented her like a commodity. She gave herself to users and takers. However, her path crossed the Giver!! She was amazed that at last I have met someone, a man who knows me, my issues and my flaws and yet wants to give me something special. She became a receiver and taker. She has never seen such a man before. All the other men just used and discarded her. Now that was her exact message, “come and see a man….”. Wow! The Bible said she went right back to the men who used and abused her and preached something different – THE AMAZING EXTRAVAGANT GRACE OF GOD!! She left her earthly pot and the life giving words of Christ was enough to motivate her to preach. Jesus did not tell her woman, you have been all over the place, sit for 10 years, get cleaned etc. She did not need to do that because she did not preach herself or her boring old life, she preached the MAN who preached to her. She preached the CHRIST!! So the people of the town of Samaria, did not go looking for her but they all went looking for this same MAN Jesus!! The one thing Jesus was concerned about was that she received His word and understood it. This is like the Church today. Used and abused by many but Jesus continued blood borne forgiveness and Grace is still at work. Please the word of the Lord for you in this time is go and tell the message of Easter that He died, that He was buried and that He rose and everyman has now the opportunity. Two things we need to take home this Easter. We need to preach the CHRIST not ourselves. Also, we need to allow people to go to this Christ and know Him for themselves, instead of placing ourselves in the place of God and calling people “come to me and get your blessing”. It is no longer I that live but Christ that lives. Let the Holy Spirit and the spontaneity of the Christ come into the Church again. When I say Church, I do not mean the 4 walls but every where the Name of Christ is mentioned and believed!

John 4

²⁸The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

²⁹Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

³⁰Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

You must know Christ for yourself because you will experience things and people will say many things of you that will distract you and shut you up from preaching the Gospel. However know that the Gospel is not of yourself, or anyone but Christ. Paul said in me dwells no good thing but we preach Christ and him crucified. Note that the same thing happened in Mark 16. Jesus rebuked the disciples for their unbelief, hardness of heart and slowness but He commissioned them saying GO YE AND PREACH! He did not say, you don’t have faith now, sit down, take 10 lessons and before you do anything again, get cleaned up, none of that. He simply said Go and He said I am with you. That is what I say to you today, go ye and preach the Gospel of Christ because HE IS WITH YOU!! That makes all the difference.

Mark 16

¹⁴Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

¹⁵And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

¹⁶He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

¹⁷And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

¹⁸They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

¹⁹So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

²⁰And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Having busted all the myths, ifs, ands and buts that make the Grace of God not to be preached in churches today, we can now go on to look at what the Grace of God is and its application. today.

Grace is the source of the beginning, process and continuation of Salvation on earth. Salvation is not a one off thing. Grace is not a concept or a subject to be analysed or debated. It beats all human concepts, reasoning, philosophy, intelligence, understanding and anything the fallen man can offer. Grace is the person of Christ. He came and Grace appeared in all its fullness and glory from which men can now receive blessing after blessing. God is not in the business of cursing in the New Testament.

John 1

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

² The same was in the beginning with God.

³ All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

⁴ In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

⁵ And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

⁶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

¹⁵ John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

¹⁶ And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

The world has not gone the way God planned it originally because the devil came and tried to derail God’s plan by tricking Adam and Eve into disobeying God. Even now that Christ has come it does not seem to the average human mind that God is in control of everything. Even now some even say they are atheist, agnostics and all sorts. Some even take it further by worshipping the devil and his number 666. Wow can you see. This is very important because that is exactly how the devil works against the Grace and Sovereignty of God. So people will ask ‘if there is God why is so and so happening’. ‘If there is God why are there wars and famine and dips and double dips in economy’? Bringing it to a personal level, the devil will cause you from looking to heaven and cause to start looking around you. Take Jesus for example. The devil came to Him saying if you are or according to King James Version “if thou be the Son of God’. The same thing happens to us today. The devil corners us when we are going through and start to tell you ‘if you are’. We then go into a frenzy that we call warfare today and even command and ask God for some things according to the dictates of our minds, feelings and emotions. We will even pray away the things that God permits to strengthen our faith just like when the Israelites left Egypt. They also requested a king and wanted to be like others when God had a new life for them. However, today God works by His word according to His purpose, plans and objectives so that His eternal plan can be manifest, things that will endure for eternity. That was why Jesus endured the cross for our eternal salvation.

Matthew 4

¹ Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

² And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

⁶ And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Now in the New Testament God wants you and I to preach the Gospel of His Grace constantly because Satan will use circumstances, people, systems and anything to frustrate you and I so that we can stop serving God and preaching the Gospel. Satan will use the ‘if you are’ question to frustrate you from doing good works in the Kingdom. So the Lord says we should preach Grace all the time so that we can continue His work on earth. Satan will accuse abuse and try to steal from you. Look at Job. If any Christian experience what Job experienced today, they not only stop coming to church but they will stone those who mention the Name of Jesus. People do not want to hear the Gospel of suffering which eventually lead to glory in the end. You cannot effectively counsel someone who lost his job if you have never lost your job because you don’t know how it feels. This is why the Scripture tells us that Jesus Christ left His heavenly Glory and had to go through suffering on earth to identify with those He was trying to save or deliver.

Titus 3

¹ Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

² To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

³ For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

⁴ But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

⁵ Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

⁶ Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

⁷ That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

⁸ This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

⁹ But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

Brethren, this is very vital. Do not let anyone especially if you are minister make you to be afraid of preaching Grace. I rejoice now because all the name it and claim it preachers like Creflo Dollar, Kenneth Copeland have now received revelation of Grace and are now preaching it. Imagine Creflo saying that God is not in the business of cursing but blessing and that people have preached the wrong thing about tithing when they put the people of God under a curse for not tithing. Wow!! I am glad he has changed his mind at last. We are not under law but under Grace. Tithing is the most common preaching that uses both cursing and blessing, but God said you should choose for yourself either cursing or BLESSING. Those of us who have chosen Jesus have chosen BLESSING and we should walk in it whatever the weather.

THE GRACE OF GOD – PART 2

GROW IN GRACE

Having busted all the myths, ifs, ands and buts that make the Grace of God not to be preached in churches today, we can now go on to look at what the Grace of God is and its application. today.

In the New Covenant Grace is what helps us to live a “normal Christian life”. When we become born again, it is by God’s Grace, meaning that it is by the power or ability of God without any human efforts, addition or subtraction. Grace has become a cliché. It is not works meaning anything we have done. Bible is clear about this. It says “that not of YOUR SELF”. It is not your doing at all but absolutely the doing of God. Why is this necessary? Not only that, having saved you by His Grace, God says that is just the beginning. He says that in future He will show even more extravagant Grace because without that you can’t run the Christian race.This is absolutely necessary so that we can avoid comparisons and competitions. Some may say that they got what they have because they prayed for hours or fasted for days etc. They then go on to blame those who they think did not get their “miracle” because they did not pray or fast enough. Anything that says you earned what you have got because of what you did is not the Gospel of Grace or of Christ. You get what you get because of what Jesus did. What a Born Again Christian does is not a means to an end to twist the hands of God. All the things you get is not of your works, rather it is by the working of God. See verse 10 below.  Jesus has already twisted the hands of God towards you. His hand (Holy Spirit) is upon you as a child of God.

Ephesians 2

¹ And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

² Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

³ Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

⁵ Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved

⁶ And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

⁷ That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

⁸ For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast.

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

So does it mean we do not do anything because it is by Grace? Far from it. The moment you are born again you are translated into another Kingdom. Your old self is dead. You become a new creature, a child of God, raised up from dead by the power of resurrection, not your strength or will power. You are living a life that you have never lived before. It is brand new. You are a son of God. Now God uses a sonship adoption to describe you and this is one of the most important revelations in the Word. You are adopted as son. The difference between a biological son and an adopted son is that the adopting Father is LEGALLY bound to that son forever. He is committed, faithful to the end. The other thing is that the adopted son is legally bound to obtain an inheritance. We are heirs and joint heirs with Christ!! Wow!!! This adopting Father, God has a plan for all His children and He is legally bound to see that you fulfil His purpose for you. Having been adopted and you feel you want to be wayward, then ABBA Father will orchestrate things to discipline you so you can learn and walk in your God given inheritance!! Wow!! Halleluyah

This new creature connects with heaven the source of all blessings and good things. There are certain things this new creature does which he did not do before being born again. This new creature prays, fast, read the Bible, speaks the words of his Father in heaven, goes to fellowship, gives generously, evangelises, intercedes, worships, thanks God and Praise His Son Jesus who enabled the adoption etc. That is who you are now. You do these things because that is who you are. These are now normal for you as a child of God. All good things come from God in heaven through our Lord Jesus and by the Holy Spirit. So what does this mean? When you are in need of something or putting it in Grace context, when God is about to do something in your life, He will begin to stir you up or stir things up. He could stir you to fast 3 days. He could cause you to pray more. He could bring someone your way to give you a word. He could stir you to go to a conference. He will provide the means for you to attend the conference or buy some Christian materials or cause you to spend more time in the word etc until that thing comes to pass. Many get confused and think we just lie there and God does it all. No! We co-operate with God to execute His plan. Paul explains this. He said that when the Grace of God came he even did more but concluded “yet not I but the Grace of God…..”

1 Corinthians 15:9-11

⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

What was Paul saying by the Holy Spirit? Simply this. I am who I am by the Grace or ability or power of God. Not only that all that I do is by the working of the Grace of God in me and my members. In Him I live and have my being, it is no longer I but Christ.

Galatians 2:19-21

¹⁹ For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

²⁰ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

²¹ I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

So when you go to work or school or anywhere, you are doing so by the Grace of God which Christ living in you.

I am inclined at this point with a release in my spirit to write on the Grace of God as empowered by His Spirit. I know that volumes have been written on Grace some of which re devoid of power but it is important to note that Grace is not a concept or subject or an abstract or a thing. Grace is the Ability of God. It is the power of God for a new life that you have never lived before! It is God’s absolute power in Christ. Grace is the Person of the Lord Jesus. We have to preach Him daily in Church of Christ and in fellowship. When we understand Salvation by Grace that it has nothing to do with you but what Jesus did we cannot help but preach Christ and the Grace of God every day. When we understand that all the good works we do including, praying, fasting, giving, serving in church, doing good etc are all by the quickening of the Spirit of God, then we will appreciate and preach Him more. However Grace has become like a cliche or by word that we have been programmed to say without realising the power behind it.

Ephesians 2

To understand the Grace of God, we must first receive the following Truth:

1. 1. The Scripture is not of any private interpretation. The Glory of the latter house is greater and that old glory has been done away with so that God can introduce a completely new era. So no matter who you listen to young or old, big or small please check it whether it is the Word of God. If it is not please discard it completely. Peter said they were eyewitnesses, they saw Christ, they dined with Him, they saw the transfiguration on the mount but concludes that we do not just depend on these “spooky” experiences rather we have His Word. Whatever experiences we have of God, He does not want to be put in that box of your experience but He wants you to continue in His words as a true disciple. Read it, hear it, meditate on it and receive insight, revelation and understanding from it.

2 Peter 1

¹⁶ For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

¹⁷ For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

¹⁸ And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

¹⁹ We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

²⁰ Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

²¹ For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

1. 2. God has specifically given special ability or Grace to His people to become able Ministers of the New Testament. This is very vital because much of what has made the Church to neglect the daily preaching of Grace is miss-match of the Old and the New Testament. The new and the old are exactly the same thing – The Person of the Lord Jesus Christ – what He has done, what He is doing and what He will do. Please know that what Jesus does is the Will of God. If we do not understand this we will preach a gospel that is devoid of Grace and therefore put masses under condemnation and curses and in that way exploit them. We don’t do anything by our own righteousness or holiness but faith in the Name of Jesus Christ. As I write this message of Grace of Christ to you, I have faith in His name that He will do something new in your life and make you whole

2 Corinthians 3:5-7

⁵ Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

⁶ Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

⁷ But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

1. 3. Abandon the Syndrome of “yeah but”. One of the problems that paralyse the church from preaching the Grace of God in Christ is what I call the “Yeah or Yes But Syndrome”. Whenever you bring out truth (Christ) in the Word of God, many of us believers will say yes but. However I see in the Word of God that God means what He says and says what He means so no man can escape apart from accepting Jesus Christ, the Grace of God upon mankind. It is sin or evil to privately interpret the word of God and by philosophy or wise thinking or scholastic achievement or status or wisdom or position or intelligence or by any such things bring in and translate what God has not said into His word. Indeed the Book of Revelation stressed this. Don’t add or remove from the Word of God! Our revelation must be founded in the word of God. As Peter said we have a more sure word to compare our revelation with. There are many examples but the one that intrigued me recently and simple to understand is the word “demon”. This word is not in the original King James Version of the Bible yet many volumes and exposition have been written by researchers and scholars on this subject to the weariness of the mind. Even when I discussed this with brethren they come with the yeah but syndrome and even bring in their own interpretation.

Ecclesiastes 12

⁸ Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.

⁹ And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.

¹⁰ The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

¹¹ The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

¹² And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

¹³ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

¹⁴ For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

1. 4. Grace gives license to sin: Wow! Are you kidding me! This is one of the errors that try to limit the preaching of the Gospel of Christ and of the Grace of God. Man had the license to sin from Adam our former father in the Garden of Eden. We did not even do any driving test to get that license. We were born into it. Our Father is now ABBA the Almighty God!! Indeed Jesus (Grace) came to bind and ban that sin driving license. It is Grace that brought righteousness and freedom from sin and its consequences. No wonder Paul says if anyone preaches another gospel let that person be cursed!! Sin was an eternal license brought in by the devil in the Garden of Eden from one man and it passed to all generation. However Grace came through ONE MAN Jesus Christ eternally to all generation. Listen friends, when you become a child of God through Jesus Christ, you are saved from sin. We are now born into righteousness. Grace forgives us forever! We have eternal forgiveness. We are forgiven of sins past, present and future hence we are BLESSED! Being blessed is not something you earn because you performed well or sang well or prayed well or did so much that God blessed you. It is a Gift by Grace!! We are righteous because of what Jesus did. It is a gift. Now you are Child of God when you accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Note that Jesus is the only begotten of God. The rest of us were adopted. Adoption is legally binding such that God has absolute power over all His children. God is legally binding and committed to see that you grow, mature and succeed in Kingdom Life. You are also legally bound to receive Kingdom Life. So when you see Grace as a license to sin, it is like playing with fire. Then the Lord will institute and mete out His disciplinary measures to you as appropriate and SCOURGE you until you come back to your senses. And boy, it is not a pleasant thing but you will come out with Grace and Glory when the Lord has finished with you. That is how the Lord deals with us. He deals with us as sons in His Kingdom!! Now you can decide to reject Jesus and decline your eternal sonship but that is why you have the choice to commit to Jesus as Lord and Saviour or you reject Him outright. That is perfectly allowed. Even at that God the Father will still try to call you to repentance and turn back to Jesus until the day you die!

Hebrews 12

⁵ And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

⁶ For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

⁷ If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

⁸ But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

⁹ Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

¹⁰ For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

¹¹ Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

BORN INTO GRACE AND GLORY

Grace goes against all odds that we know in life. The law is like a trade by barter or exchange for work done or for the good done. The law says if you do this and that then I will do this and that. However when it comes to Grace it is not trade by barter. Grace says I have done it for you, now enjoy it. Grace goes very contrary to everything else in life, it is unlike anything we ever known. Everything in life is a Barter System. We work so we get paid. We love others so they can love us back. Then we come to God with the same idea that it is going to be some kind of exchange with merit system. If you pray hard, God will hear you. Grace is unlike religion or philosophy. Religion says that if you do good God will notice you. Grace says God already noticed us go and do good. God has your attention.

Isaiah 49:15-17

¹⁵ Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

¹⁶ Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

¹⁷ Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

He has loved you and adopted you and given you a new heart. Now go out and do good. Grace flips everything upside down. We settle for what we understand and we pay a great price for it. Grace is God’s commitment to change us into the image of His Son. I can’t change me. I have to believe God will change me. There is a different between change and co-operating with change. You extend your hand towards Grace without twisting, it is an unforced rhythm. Just like opening an electric door. No fuss, you walk towards it and it opens of its own accord.

Our upbringing, philosophy, logical thinking etc have robbed us of the Grace that is in Christ. In Christ, God says all things are now ready come and receive it and walk in it. It is free. Just walk in it.

Romans 8

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

²⁹ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

³⁰ Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

³¹ What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

³² He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

GOD’S PLAN IN WEIGHT, DIET AND GYM

To really grasp the issue of food diet and gym from this try read phases 1 to 3.

So now that Jesus has made the perpetual decree how do we deal with the weight diet and gym issues:

ACCEPTANCE OF YOURSELF IN CHRIST:

First accept yourself as you are now and see yourself as God sees you in Christ and His love – fearfully and wonderfully made including all your members. No need to enhance any part of your body. Some of us look down on people doing body jobs to enhance themselves, but you fall into the same condemnation when you do your bits and bobs to shape your body because you think you are too fat, too thin, too tall etc because it is exactly the same motive.

It is only human that do not like the way God created them. The short want to be tall, the big want to be small, the cuddly (what the world call fat) want to be thin. I am yet to see a hippopotamus as fat as they are want to lose weight. Animals just do what they are created to do. It is the domesticated ones we call pets that become obese. I have seen most Jews, it is rare to see a practising Jew that is very obese because I believe their act of praying alone bopping back and forth in prayer can make them lose any fat. When we do things of God actively (eg passionate vibrant praise, passionate boisterous prayer (Jesus in Hebrews 5:7) and eat in moderation, we will be healthy and fit. For instance try active fasting (not this present day cop out psychedelic miss a chocolate or TV modernised fasting) and you will see how wonderful it is. He renews our youth – Ps 103. Godly exercise profiteth unto all things. I am not saying gym is not good but being in the gym with the Holy Ghost in prayer, praise, fasting etc will profit you better the word of God says.  Scripture is not of any private interpretation, I take God’s word as it says, They are his thoughts and the Holy Spirit will get it inside us very well as we meditate on it not to change it or interpret it our own way. It is good to say like Paul – “not I but the Lord” or “not the Lord but me” because once God says it, no more private interpretation or analysis but it is as God said it and the Holy Spirit will give your personal revelation (not interpretation of that word. Some of the things we do like diet and physical exercise are in themselves borne out of fear of dying, fear of weight gain, fear of sickness, but if we focus on loving God, His perfect love will cast out fear of dying because we are in His presence and His love by spiritually exercising daily in God’s gym with the Holy Spirit – Amen!!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE:

Engage in daily fellowship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit through the Word and prayers, thanksgiving, Praise etc.  Note that going to gym is not bad but God says spiritual exercise will profit you more when you rather exercise unto Godliness.  Vs 9 below also says worthy of all acceptation. So everyone should accept this scripture as it is hook, line and sinker.

1 Timothy 4

⁷But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

⁸For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

⁹This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

SPEAK THE WORD ONLY:

In Mark 7 vs 6-23 note words like all, any and cannot. God has programmed it as default. I choose to believe God’s word, God now commands us to eat everything eatable, nothing to be refused but the key is it must be with thanksgiving in moderation and nothing should overtake us or put us in bondage that we become addicted to it.

Speak – that is how God created and he has not changed, Catholic got it right. “As it was in the beginning so it is now ever shall be …. Gospel is simple. Speak good words only not because you deserve good but because Jesus paid for the good. Speak to your body that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Speak good about the food you eat and not curse it even before it goes into your body.

Philemon 1

⁶That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus

BE MODERATE

Do all things eg eat in moderation

Philippians 4

⁵Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

1 Corinthians 10

²²Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

²³All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

Some may stone me if I say this – Drinking in moderation is not bad – Paul said “take a little wine for thy stomach” (The French do this with their meals) – Don’t think this is ordinary grape juice. There were not many medications in those days and alcohol was used for medicinal value. Might as well tell the French to throw their food out of the window or say that the French will go to hell because they drink wine with their food.

However I am a teetotaller with a difference as I do not also smoke because I respect the temple of God which is my body not because God will condemn me if I drink in moderation

LIVE LONG – SPEAK GOOD THINGS ONLY

See long days. Keep your mouth from speaking guile and speak well of the Lord, yourself and others

Psalm 34

¹¹Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

¹²What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?

¹³Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

¹⁴Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

Halleluya. How can you neglect so great a salvation! If you are not saved, why don’t you receive what Jesus says.
