‘Teesside Gospel Festival - Grace Covenant Ministries Outreach Project’
Unity in Diversity
WHO WE ARE
The Teesside Gospel Festival (TEGOFEST) is a yearly summer outreach awareness programme organised by Grace Covenant Ministries (GCM). Grace Covenant Ministries is a Christian charity set up to advance the Christian religion and education, relief of the disadvantaged and to prevent poverty among ethnic minority community..
AIMS
- To create awareness in the general community of diverse ways by which various culture express the Christian faith and worship God. As the popular song rightly pointed out, in Christ there is no East or West but one great fellowship of love through out the whole wide earth.
- Break the cultural barriers between Churches especially in the expression of the Christian faith.
REASONS
- The indigenous Churches in Western culture find it difficult to understand and accept the style and mode of expression of the Christian faith by diverse culture especially the black and ethnic minority (BME). Hitherto the BME are misunderstood, marginalised or outrightly ostracised. This has led to misunderstanding and sometimes division between Christians of different ethnicities.
- The general community also may not be aware or find it difficult to understand and accept the style and mode of expression of the Christian faith and worship of black and ethnic minority group.
OBJECTIVES/OUTCOME
- This is therefore a celebration of Christ breaking down this barrier so that various ethnic group can come and freely celebrate with those from black and ethnic minority group.
- This will in turn encourage integration, understanding tolerance, and acceptance among the community.
